Responsible Gambling Policy
At Qalexagrand Lodge, we believe that gambling should always be an enjoyable and entertaining experience. We are deeply committed to fostering a safe, responsible, and supportive environment for every guest who walks through our doors or visits our platforms. This policy has been developed to help you stay in control, recognise when gambling may be causing harm, and access the support you need.
This policy is published and maintained by , located at .
Our Commitment to Responsible Gambling
Qalexagrand Lodge is dedicated to providing a gambling environment that prioritises your well-being above all else. We take our social responsibility seriously and have implemented a comprehensive framework to ensure that gambling remains a positive leisure activity for all our guests.
Our commitment includes:
- Training all staff members to identify signs of problem gambling and respond with compassion and professionalism.
- Providing transparent, accessible information about the risks associated with gambling.
- Offering practical tools that empower guests to set personal limits and take breaks when needed.
- Collaborating with recognised organisations dedicated to gambling harm prevention and treatment.
- Ensuring that gambling is never presented as a way to earn income or resolve financial difficulties.
- Promoting a culture of openness where guests feel comfortable seeking help without fear of judgment.
We understand that for a small number of people, gambling can become problematic. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is always available, and our team is here to support you every step of the way.
Minimum Age Policy — 18+
Gambling at Qalexagrand Lodge is strictly reserved for individuals who are 18 years of age or older . This is not only a legal requirement under Alberta gaming regulations but a cornerstone of our commitment to protecting young people from the potential harms associated with gambling.
To uphold this policy, we take the following measures:
- All guests who appear to be under the age of 25 may be asked to provide valid government-issued photo identification before being permitted to gamble or enter gaming areas.
- Any individual who fails to provide satisfactory proof of age will be denied access to all gambling facilities.
- Our staff are regularly trained to challenge age and to do so respectfully and consistently.
- We do not permit minors to loiter in or around gaming areas, and we actively monitor our premises to ensure compliance.
- Underage gambling is a criminal offence, and we cooperate fully with all relevant authorities in any related investigations.
If you believe a minor is attempting to access our gambling facilities, please inform a member of our team immediately. Your concern will be treated seriously and with complete discretion.
Recognising the Signs of Problem Gambling
Problem gambling can develop gradually and may not always be immediately apparent — even to the person affected. It can impact people from all walks of life, regardless of age, background, or income. Recognising the warning signs early is one of the most important steps toward getting help.
You or someone you care about may be experiencing a gambling problem if you notice any of the following signs:
Behavioural Signs
- Spending more time or money gambling than originally intended.
- Feeling a strong, persistent urge to gamble that is difficult to resist.
- Chasing losses — continuing to gamble in an attempt to win back money that has been lost.
- Lying to friends, family, or colleagues about gambling habits or the amount of money spent.
- Neglecting work, school, family, or social responsibilities because of gambling.
- Borrowing money, selling possessions, or engaging in dishonest behaviour to fund gambling.
- Repeatedly trying and failing to cut back or stop gambling.
- Gambling as a way to escape stress, anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties.
Emotional and Psychological Signs
- Feeling irritable, restless, or anxious when trying to reduce or stop gambling.
- Experiencing mood swings that are closely tied to gambling wins and losses.
- Feeling guilt, shame, or remorse after gambling sessions.
- Thinking obsessively about gambling — planning the next session, reliving past wins, or calculating ways to get more money to gamble.
Financial Signs
- Accumulating significant debts that are related to gambling.
- Struggling to pay bills or meet basic living expenses due to gambling expenditure.
- Concealing bank statements or financial records from loved ones.
- Using rent, mortgage, or household funds to gamble.
If any of these signs resonate with you or someone you know, please do not hesitate to reach out for support. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and recovery is absolutely possible.
Self-Exclusion Tools and Responsible Gambling Measures
We offer a range of tools designed to help you stay in control of your gambling. We encourage all guests to use these resources proactively, even if you do not currently feel that gambling is causing you harm. Responsible gambling starts with informed, empowered choices.
Self-Exclusion Programme
Our self-exclusion programme allows you to voluntarily exclude yourself from our gambling facilities for a defined period of time. This is a powerful tool for anyone who feels they need a break from gambling or who is concerned that their gambling behaviour may be becoming problematic.
- Self-exclusion can be requested for periods ranging from a minimum of 30 days to a permanent, lifetime exclusion.
- To request self-exclusion, please speak confidentially with any member of our guest services or security team, or contact our Responsible Gambling Officer directly.
- Once your self-exclusion is in place, you will be removed from our marketing lists and will no longer receive promotional materials.
- Our staff will take reasonable steps to enforce your exclusion and refuse entry to gaming areas during the agreed period.
- If you wish to return after a self-exclusion period has ended, a cooling-off period and a formal review process will apply.
Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) VOLUNTARY SELF-EXCLUSION (VSE) Programme
Alberta residents can also enrol in the provincial Voluntary Self-Exclusion programme administered by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) commission. This programme allows you to exclude yourself from all AGLC-regulated casinos across the province, providing an additional layer of protection. For more information, please visit the AGLC website or speak with our Responsible Gambling Officer.
Deposit and Spending Limits
We encourage all guests to set personal financial limits before they begin gambling. Deciding in advance how much you are comfortable spending — and sticking to that amount — is one of the most effective ways to keep gambling fun and within your means.
Time Limits and Breaks
- Set a time limit for each gambling session before you start, and honour it.
- Take regular breaks away from the gaming floor to reflect on how your session is going.
- Avoid gambling when you are tired, stressed, upset, or under the influence of alcohol or other substances, as these states can impair your judgment.
Reality Checks
- Keep track of how much time and money you are spending.
- Remember that the outcomes of casino games are determined by chance, and there is no strategy that guarantees a win.
- Never gamble with money that you cannot afford to lose.
- Gambling should never be viewed as a way to make money or to pay off debts.
